ASUS PadFone is a combination of smartphone and tablet from ASUS that was released in Taiwan last April 20. Despite its April release in Taiwan, the device has been plagued by delays due to problems in the production of the Snapdragon S4 processor of Qualcomm. The processor that is used on the ASUS PadFone is reportedly high on the demand list among large smartphone manufacturers since it is considered as the best processor for the mobile devices by computing device makers around the world.

However, various media reports indicate that the ASUS PadFone may soon be released in other markets outside of Taiwan. The ASUS PadFone with its docking station, headset and stylus will reportedly become available in Hong Kong, Singapore, and a number of European countries. The ASUS PadFone features a Super AMOLED screen that measures 4.3 inches, a 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 processor of Qualcomm, 1GB RAM and can be positioned into a tablet measuring 10.1 inches.

The connectivity options of the ASUS PadFone include HSPA+, Wi-Fi 802.11, Bluetooth 4.0, and HDMI out. The device uses the latest Android version, the Android 4.0 or the Ice Cream Sandwich Android.

The Taiwan-based computer manufacturer ASUS has announced its fifth version of the Republic Of Gamers range of gaming laptops; they are the G75VW and G55VW. These laptops will offer the buyer a good sized 17.3-inch HD+, Full HD EWV LED Back light or the Full HD 3D LED Back light display that also comes with the optional Active shutter glasses with NVIDIA 3D Light Boost technology in 1080P resolution for perfect 3D vision.

In addition, these new G-Series laptops feature Intel 3rd generation Core i7 processors. Without adequate cooling, an abundance of features is useless. Therefore, for cooling the G55VW utilizes a pair of fans; the G75VW offers dedicated fans for the CPU and GPU.

Inspired by the design of a stealth aircraft, the new G-Series combines a sculpted profile with a compact matte chassis with gamer-centric features. The one-piece backlit keyboard with isolated arrow keys and ‘W’ key indicator ensure gamers are always a step ahead of their competitors. The slightly inclined chassis provides comfort during prolonged gaming sessions, while the rubberized soft-touch palm rest and the anti-glare matte display with a wide viewing angles reduces strain on eyes during late night game sessions or media playback.

ASUS has released the new firmware update of its recently released Android-based tablet ASUS Transformer Pad 300. The update brings with it a range of new features to the tablet.

In addition to the firmware update, ASUS has also released the source code for the Transformer Pad 300, and it is now available to download, the update should be available for your device as an OTA update.

The ASUS Transformer Pad 300 features a 10.1-inch screen, powered by a quad-core Tegra 3 processor, supported by 1 GB of RAM, and will have 16 GB of onboard storage. Other specifications include a 1.2-megapixel front camera and an 8-megapixel rear camera, micro-HDMI port so that the tablet can be connected to TVs, and one microSD card reader for expanding storage if required.

To attract more users and give them a more economical tablet option, ASUS is going to launch a cheaper version of its Transformer Prime tablet. Scheduled for release next month, ASUS Transformer Pad 300 differs slightly from Transformer Prime in terms of specifications.

According to the company, “Running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, the ASUS Transformer Pad is a value packed tablet that combines quad-core CPU power with multi-color style, and productivity with expandability when connected to the mobile dock with USB and SD card ports.”

ASUS Transformer Pad 300 features a hard plastic back panel as compared to the brushed aluminum chassis used in Transformer Prime. The new tablet features a 1.4GHz quad-core Tegra 3 processor and 1GB of DDR3 RAM to facilitate multitasking. Like the high-end model, it runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and comes with an 8 megapixel rear camera. But one area where ASUS Transformer Pad 300 lags behind Transformer Prime is its display. The former boasts of a standard Soda Lime Glass panel which is far below the Corning Gorilla Glass panel used in the latter.

ASUS Transformer Pad 300 will cost US $380 and US $400 for the 16GB and 32GB versions, respectively.

Lately, ASUS has added a novel powerful notebook in its popular K Series, called ASUS K93SM. Officially, the most recent ASUS K Series notebook with 18.4-inch LED-backlit display screen will be available primarily in Europe only.

Apparently, ASUS K93SM packs the second-generation Intel Core i5-2450M or i7-2670QM processor, Intel GMA HD 3000 video card, and 8GB of DDR3 memory. Other specifications include Blu-ray Combo optical drive, 1TB hard drive, and NVIDIA GeForce GT 630M 1 GB graphics card.

For I/O, ASUS K93SM incorporates 8x DVD writer, 3-in-1 card reader, Gigabit Ethernet, USB 3.0 port, and 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi. 6-cell (5200 mAh) battery and the IceCool Technology to keep the palm rest cool are couple of other features that are worth mentioning. According to the company, ASUS K93SM notebook will come pre-loaded with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit operating system.

If you want to own this ASUS notebook, you may have to spend between 849 Euros to 1,149 Euros.

Of late, ASUS hosted a series of global seminars wherein the company revealed a few novel technologies to be featured in the forthcoming motherboards with Intel 7 Series chipset.

The unveiled modern technologies include the next-generation Dual Intelligent Processors 3 with SMART DIGI+ Power Control for enhanced performance, ASUS Fan Xpert 2 for superior responsiveness and flexibility, and ASUS Wi-Fi GO! for making computing rewarding and easier.

In addition to this, the company also disclosed several pioneering motherboards, including ASUS ROG micro ATX Maximus V GENE and ruggedized ASUS TUF SABERTOOTH Z77. Amongst the two, ATX Maximus V GENE incorporates SupremeFX III audio, ASUS GameFirst technology, and immersive gameplay. While on the other hand, ASUS TUF SABERTOOTH Z77 equips Thermal Armor for ultimate reliability and precision cooling.

The upcoming products by ASUS will also include some novel technologies by Intel, including Intel Smart Connect Technology, Intel Smart Response Technology, along with support for PCI Express 3.0.

The latest firmware update to kill the ICS (Ice Cream Sandwich) bug by ASUS has disappointed the owners of Eee Pad Transformer TF101 tablet. The tablet is experiencing problems since the latest Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade. Excellent for multitasking, ASUS Eee Pad Transformer TF101 was upgraded to the most recent Android 4.0 version a few days back but ASUS asserted that it caused several technical glitches. Apparently, a vast majority of the users experienced random reboots, graphics glitches, crashing, and even battery issues.

ASUS declared on Facebook, “If you own a Transformer TF101 you will have received your update over the weekend. If you haven’t got it already check for it on your tablet!”

According to the feedback from the owners of ASUS Eee Pad Transformer TF101 on the upgrade, the consequences haven’t been in much favor. Several users posted system freezing complaints and some reported minor performance degradation issues.

It seems that ASUS cannot wait to get its hands on the next version of Google Android. The company is all set to be the first in line to update its gadgets with Android 5.0, which is hopefully to be released by the end of this year.

The highly anticipated Android 5.0 has been shrouded with rumors about what kind of peppy code names the new OS will be christened. As per calculated speculations, the next version of Android should begin with the alphabet “J”, as Google follows a particular naming scheme like dessert themes starting with alphabetical order: Cupcake, Donut, Eclair, Froyo, Gingerbread, Honeycomb, and Ice Cream Sandwich. However, thanks to the over excitement of ASUS, every one now affirms the rumored name “Jelly Bean” for Android 5.0.

“ASUS is very close to Google, so once they have Android 5.0, I think there will be a high possibility that we will be the first wave to offer the Jelly Bean update,” said Benson Lin, corporate vice president, ASUS.

Although the elated vice president did spill the beans regarding “Jelly Bean”, ASUS does look resolute to be the first company to receive the upcoming Android 5.0 update for its gadgets.
